This story happened to my class of grade 3 students this past June. We had just finished reading the picture book “Stick & Stone” and my kids really connected with the story. I challenged them to write a journal sharing who they thought they were most like – Stick, Stone or Pinecone (another character). What they wrote I thought was amazing so I put it on our class Twitter account never thinking it would end up going where it did. This really showed my kids that they do have a voice and shouldn’t be afraid to speak up.
